42' Schooner (la Esperanza)
This lovely gaff schooner was designed,built
and has been carefully maintained since 1974 by the original live-aboard
owner and has been in constant successful charter service since
that time. The hull is very solidly built in cascover-sheathed
carvel planking of Portugese pine. Decks are leakproof epoxy/fiberglass
sheathed plywood. Power is a smooth running 120 hp 6 cylinder
Mitsubishi diesil with a Hundestead 2 blade reversible pitch propeller.
Sails were renewed in 1998. Rigging is long-lived galvanized shrouds
with stainless stays and all dacron running rigging. The fore
deck carries a powerful ships-type electric anchor windlass with
a very complete assortment of anchors. There is also a main engine
driven dive compressor
la Esperanza is very comfortably
fitted for long term live-aboard or charter with a freezer and
two refrigerators, substantial tankage, and a very full kit of
cruising supplies, charts, etc. The new owner can step aboard
this lovely character yacht and immediately sail away, or if they
wish, carry on with the established charter business in a beautiful
tropical location for a very reasonable $85,000.
